Wow !
@Mathéo_rugby thank you :)
Nice video....bit optimistic with the sky!
@@scrumpymanjack thanks :) I was a bit, I was hoping it would stay like that!
Brilliant tutorial, so well explained and did make me think of whether you could buy an open tent idea like for fishing that is clear, to provide protection. I might patent that idea? Great video
Thanks, I'm happy you liked the tutorial! That sounds like a good idea! It's challenging painting plein-air in the rain especially in the winter months 🥶
A vicarious effort = one who suffers on behalf of others! You deserve a medal for this, three days of a chill east wind, drizzle and temperatures barely over freezing! Climates are dynamic but what I really notice is the increase of wind - speeds and frequency. It makes open air painting very difficult. Easels can tumble, panels fly and pressure on the eyes can make them water. There is a fine sense of depth and you capture the fingers of high ground going into the levels.
@@ianbrowne8871thanks Ian, I thought about giving up a few times especially when the hail started but I'm glad I preserved in the end although it felt like my fingertips were going to completely freeze! I hope all's well with you :)
Thats a nice and practical idea for carrying canvas panels

Great tips! Copying a master is something i haven’t done in ages. Good idea. When i am blocked, I sometimes take a scruffy old painting that has been deemed a failure, and since i have nothing to lose, i will boldly finish it, using any old media i feel like, adding freely to the “old failure”. Lol. Surprisingly the lack of pressure to create a masterpiece or fix where i went wrong, often works in my favour, heading me off in a surprising new direction.
@@char3474 that's a good idea! I might try that on some of my old paintings I definitely find it easier to paint more boldly on paintings I'm not too attached to. I'm glad you liked the video :)
@ I like all your videos, thank you! ❤️
Great and unique Artworks you've got there, I am interested in these your arts but I can only buy them as NFTs as my team recommend that i buy Artworks as NFTs, and I am willing to buy each for 5ethereum

One thing I never use is double sided tape. Why, since it is so convenient? Because I purchase countless nice frames from thrift stores, and put in a good amount of work to re-use the frame, opening the back paper, removing the over-abundance of power staples or framing pins, removing the old matted print or art, cleaning the glass, often cutting new mats, etc. And any time the previous framer had employed double sided tape, this becomes the bane of my existence! It never fails to be extremely annoying to work with and around. It adds permanent stickiness and cannot be removed. And it most certainly NEVER helps me, just causes more work and annoyance! I always wish other framers used it far less frequently.
The paint is beautiful, thats a shame this security can't realise how precious is having someone like you doing a painting of this beautiful three, and festive time. Great job <3
@@fiama_xoxo4236 thank you. I agree ❤️
Great video. Thank you for sharing. Lots of great ideas here. One thing about the string.... maybe get a lighter and melt the frayed ends of the strings to make them nice and neat before taping them?

You captured it! I knew it was you right away when your video started. And so knew the painting would be good. Thank you for another good example of how it is done! Very inspiring.
Thanks! I'm happy you liked it 😁
George how have you prepared your canvas do you use gesso both sides of the canvas or just the surface you paint on. Nice painting great aerial perspective.
@@paulperry8614 thank you! The canvas I'm using here has already been primed so i can paint on it straight away. I just apply a thin wash of raw umber to give it a tone. This one has only been primed on one side
@@GeorgeFrederickThomas thanks George just what I needed to know. Do you ever paint in plywood. I buy a large sheet from DIY store and then cut to any size I want then acrylic white undercoat to both sides.
@@paulperry8614 I do the same thing I always prime both sides so that it doesn't warp. I normally do one layer of wood primer then 2 layers of gesso
I don't understand what they thought you were doing wrong??? Perhaps like someone said, security for Christmas markets. Well anyway, the painting turned out brilliant and I was particularly interested to see how you painted the lights so well. 😊Have a great new year!
@@ALD74 me neither! I'm happy you like the painting, thanks! Painting the lights was definitely my favourite part to do. Wishing you a happy new year!

I find these short paintings very helpful. It makes me think that maybe I could do something with oils. I really like this.
I'm happy you like the painting. Definitely give oils a try! It's my favourite painting medium to work with I hope you enjoy it
Hello there I love your art work They are beautiful unique and exquisite Are they up for sale as an NFT? Let me know so will can talk further.
Sorry you were given such a hard time by security, but it was worth it for such an amazing painting! I’m always grateful for your good painting advice. Merry Christmas!
Thank you! Merry Christmas! :)
i'm also guessing that security might have been a bit "tense ", because of the latest terrible incident at xmas market .. your painting turned out really nice !!! happy healthy holidays to you !!
True that could have been the case! Thank you! Happy Christmas :)
A shame that they cannot see the value of having an artist working at their location. It would only serve to create a more enjoyable holiday experience for their shoppers.
Thanks I agree! I've never been moved before. All of the public who walked past were very happy to see me painting. I never thought I would have needed a permit!
Another great demonstration George. It must have been a very boring night for the security to come up and question a painter quietly painting in the corner of a massive public space. There will always be someone who gets an ego trip by asserting their authority unneccessarily if given a chance. Don't let these joy killers get to you. Keep showing your talents to the world.
Thank you! Yes I agree! It will not discourage me :)
Just security being bellends, makes them feel big. Pretty sure you don't need a permit to paint in a public place in England anywhere
Yes I thought the same thing!
That’s crazy how you need permission in a public space, and you weren’t in the way as well. Beautiful painting though, merry Christmas.
@@Zoewhiteart7676 I agree! That's never happened to me before, I was really surprised! I'm happy you like the painting :) Merry Christmas!
Isnt it easy to start on dark toned panel? For nocturnal scenes
I haven't tried that but I often find I paint nocturnal paintings too dark in value overall so by working on a light panel it encourages me to paint lighter in value. Some of my favourite nocturnal paintings aren't actually that dark in value but the night is implied more through colour temperature
Did u have a lamp on your easel?
I was positioned under a bridge which had lights on it so luckily that was good enough to work in. I had brought a light just in case but I didn't use it in the end :)
Im interested in Nocturna too
George it's nice dog painting, cute 😊

True art this man. The Austrian painter got denied art school for architectural art like this and when you see the competition you know why the world of art is so corrupt.
Thanks man!
